HOW TO REACH
Darap village is located 8 km away from Peling towards Yuksam-Khechepary road. Darap is accessible by road from New Jalpaiguri railway station (NJP), Siliguri, Bagdogra airport, Gangtok or Darjeeling. The journey time from NJP or Bagdogra is 5 hours approximately.
Following itinerary comprises of 5 days of stay in Darap village that will allow you to cover recommended places nearby Darap. If you wish we can customize your stay for longer or shorter duration.
Day 1: Bagdogra Airport/NJP Railway Station/Siliguri to Darap Village. Our vehicle will wait to pick you up from Airport/Railway station. The 5 hour drive to Darap village offers stunning views of forested mountains, lush green valleys and picturesque tea plantations. You can also get fantastic views of Teesta and Rangeet rivers en route.
Day 2: Village and Nature walk. After breakfast, go for a village walk. A local guide will accompany you. Your lunch will be served in one of the village houses. You will cherish the memories of interacting with villagers. It will be a visual pleasure to see the rustic look of traditional village huts and the surrounding terraced agricultural fields.
Day 3: Rani Dunga Trek Or Riverbed walking. You can choose to for a trek or spend your day by the Rimber river. Rani Dunga trail traverses through dense forest and mountain ridges. You will also see Sagacholing Monastery (one of the Oldest Monasteries of Sikkim) in this trail. It will take about 3 hours to reach Rani Dunga which is located at an altitude of 8000 ft. We will provide packed lunch during the trek.
The other option is to go for a Riverbed walking along beautiful Rimber river. If you wish, you can go for fishing too.
Evening will be spent near the Bon Fire. You can also reward yourself with a glass of “Tongba” which is popular traditional drink in Sikkim.
Day 4: Sightseeing by Car. Since you have come a long way to West Sikkim, it’s worthwhile to see popular yet wonderful tourist attractions nearby Peling. Kanchejunga waterfalls, Rimbi Waterfalls and Khechepary Lake are awesome treasure of nature that you will see during the sightseeing trip. You will also visit famous Pemayyangtse Monastery and Rabdentse Ruin that is a historically significant place.
Day 5: Check out. Our vehicle will drop you to NJP Railway station or Bagdogra airport depending on you preference. It will be a time to say goodbye but we will look forward to have you as the guest during your next visit.
